So I have no idea how to start this post. There are just things you don't learn as a parent til you experience them. Even if your Mommy friends tell you about such things you smile and nod but don't believe it. This is one of those kinds of stories.
Last night we were all in the car going to Logan's Road House for dinner. When out of nowhere Hubs says, "Sean did you fart?!" Hubs then makes a big show of rolling the window down.
I didn't even smell it, I must have an immunity to the smell if it's under certain levels. I mean I live with my 2 guys and the FIL and BIL. Anyways, Sean emphatically states he did not. He thinks it was Bridgette. Hubs continues questioning him. Once he's satisfied it wasn't Sean he asks Bridge.
She says she did and she's sorry. BUT it doesn't end there. Hubs stupidly tells Bridge not to do that ever again. Are you thinking what Bridge and I thought? We took it as never to fart again. As far as I know farting is one of those things that just occurs and you may or may not be able to excuse yourself to do it in private. So then Bridge starts to cry, of course she's good at this sort of thing but still, and apologizes over and over. Hubs was all like "Do not cry!" It was then I pointed out to him how that sounded very much like never fart again.
He says, "I mean she needs to say excuse me."
Me: "I agree. She does BUT you did not say that. You said never do that again. You did not remind her that she needs to say excuse me."
Him: "I'm sorry Bridgette. You just need to please remember to say excuse me. Would you like steak for dinner?"
Bridge: "YES!" Should be noted tears stopped like they never existed.
Sean & Meg: "Me TOO!"
I just sat there shaking my head trying not to giggle.
In case you were wondering, dinner was fabulous and yes, everyone got steak except for Sean who had ribs.
My life and the crazy drama that goes with being a Mom and then some. Some days it's plain crazy but definitely never dull!

10 Minutes
So what can you do in 10 minutes?
Watch 1/4 of a 30 minute TV show? Get dressed? Have a quickie? Think about it.
What can't you do in 10 minutes?
Labor/Delivery of a child? Grocery Shop? Satisfy your partner? (but that's another post but not from me, k)
Why do I pose this question?
Because as short a time span as 10 Minutes seems it sometimes is excruciating slow. Sooooo very, very sloooow.
So now that I got you thinking about 10 Minutes, think about Modern Conveniences.
Modern Conveniences like: Internet, Lap Tops, 24 Hour Pharmacies....
Gas Stations on every corner!
Come to think of it, 24 Hour Pharmacies are on practically every corner. But that's besides the point...what ever that means...
Back to the point
Except for the 10 minute stretch of FM Road a bit of a way from my house.
Picture this. A nice dinner at a restaurant about 35 minutes from my house. Hubs and I met up after Sean's appointment and had a family dinner. Afterwards, Sean rode home with him and the girls rode home with me. Now picture me on that stretch of FM Road with 1 glass and a half of water and one very larger margarita hitting my system.
Do you begin to see it in your head?
Me desperately wishing I was closer to a Gas Station. Thinking of anything but the fact I need to go so bad that I can't recall the last time I had to go that bad except maybe when I was pregnant...Beating on the steering wheel...clean language cursing at the stop lights...the girls joining in at yelling "Green! Green! Green! TURN GREEN! PLEASE GOD IN HEAVEN GREEN!
FINALLY! Back to civilization! Appropriate places that a gal can stop and pee!
I didn't find the girls yelling "RUN! RUN! RUN!" funny at the time I was practically sprinting to the back of the Wal Greens to the restrooms.
The rest of the drive home I thought, any other day, anybody else, and this would be funny. After that thought I was like, MAN! Do I ever take modern conveniences for granted.
At least my girls didn't say, "You should've gone before we left."

Best Use of Car A/C Ever?
So, this evening when the hubby got home from the coin show, I immediately high tailed it outta the house. After previous attempts to escape this house to go visit my daddy I wasn't going to let anything stand in my way.
I bet you think I am joking. I assure you I am not. On Friday I got late notice of Bridge's GS Troop Mini Golf Outing. (As my twitter friends may recall me mentioning we were doing in the blazing heat of the evening.) So then, the plan became I would go visit after hubby got home on Sat. BUT WAIT, he got home too late for me to go. Thus, today was the day!
So as I was jamming out to the tunes blasting from the radio. Once again groaning at how ineffective my car's A/C is in this Texas heat. I think, you know what sounds good....a shake! YEAH! My inner self screamed. We deserve a shake! Hmmm, where to go? Jack in the Box! OH YEAH! Curly Fries, too!
As I was parked at the light waiting to turn I reach for a fry. OMG! They were hot and fresh! AWESOME! But how to cool it? I'm much to impatient to wait for this yummy goodness. Plus, I needed time for the shake to be at it's most suckable enjoyableness! (yeah, I said it) There right in front of me was a fry cooler offer! My A/C vent! Sure, it was doing little to cool me at the moment but it could cool a fry to it's best edible temperature. Oh yes it could!
I'm pretty sure I wasn't even out of town before most all my fries were gone. By the time I hit the highway interchange, no more fries. But there right next to me was my yummy strawberry goodness. The cherry long since gone the moment I got it. Most of the whipped cream, too.
It was the best car ride ever! I was alone. Jamming to what I wanted to listen to. No kids yelling or begging for just a bite or a sip. Mine! All Mine!
By time I got to the rehab hospital that shake was history! And of course, the A/C had finally started to really cool off the car.
I was a very happy girl. I sat down and visited daddy for at least a good hour and a half. It was a great visit. He even watched Big Brother for a little bit. He made it half way through before he changed it to the History Channel. But that's okay. We talked more than we watched T.V. and that's a bit unusual for us.
Everyone is ready for him to be home but none more than him. Yet, he knows that if they suggest another week he won't argue. He'd rather be well when he leaves than chance an infection and have to go back. I'm thankful I can visit with him and that our visits are getting better. I hope this doesn't change when he does get home.
